WHIRL-Y-GIG WINTER WARMER – 20thJANUARY 2024 @ STUDIO 9294
We will be returning to Studio 9294 in Hackney Wick for Whirl-y-Gig’s Winter Warmer 2024. This venue offers a magnificent performance space and now with a mezzanine chill out floor overlooking the stage and flanked by the best canal side smoking terrace ever! For this special occasion, DJ MONKEY PILOT will be joined by originators of the dub dance sound ZION TRAIN.
ZION TRAIN have been performing live since the early nineties and have released many hit singles and albums on their own Universal Egg record label. The term Zion may have different meanings to many people and cultures, but for them they say “Zion is a state of mind where you can be at ease and happy with the existence you’re living”. Their music has been a constant presence on the Whirl-y-Gig dance-floor over the years and their state of mind has indeed helped us all to be happy and free.
Dance to the Whirl-y-Beat and journey through Whirl-y-Gig’s unique electronic landscape, where many diverse elements blend into one cohesive and unifying experience. From deep dubstep and hot drum n bass to tropical house, trippy techno and tribal trance, the Whirl-y-Mix embraces flavours of celtic or global, classical or psychedelic, pop or rock, roots and radical. Whether it be African or European, Arabic or Asian, British or American, Whirl-y-Gig finds inspiration from around the world, yet is firmly rooted in the here and now of London’s alternative club scene.
WHIRL-Y-GIG is an event difficult to describe and a moment difficult to miss. With a strong and loving life force, the Whirl-y-Sound is a musical heartbeat for a future global family.
“Whirl-y-Gig has been in existence since the 1980s and for very good reason, for a fun filled, amazing night with great music and people it is without doubt the place to go in London.” (Rock Industry June 2016)
“The intense atmosphere, the diverse clientele, that constant intimacy and openness – this is the way that Whirl-y-Gig has been since it s inception in the 1980s.” (Vice January 2016).
