WHIRL-Y-GIG is devastated with the news from our friends at Subterania that they must close their doors for the foreseeable future. Consequently we have rescheduled and relocated the Whirl-y-Gig Spring Celebration to 25 March at Studio 9294 in Hackney Wick from 11pm till 6am! This is a venue we have had our eyes on since its inception in 2018. We are very excited to find our next event will be at this magnificent blank canvas performance space flanked by the best canal side smoking terrace ever!
It is time for new life and joy! What better way to welcome the Spring Equinox and the longer warmer days than dancing under the Whirl-y-Gig parachute? Monkey Pilot will be joined by an explosive mix of extraordinary talent with upcoming rising stars Hippo Sound System and super legends Oood.
HIPPO SOUND SYSTEM is a collective formed in 2018 by Bristol’s notorious samba junglist DJ Hiphoppapotamus. Touring the festival scene across the UK and Europe their performances have earned them a well trusted reputation for blowing up dance floors, moving feet and uplifting souls! Fusing their favourite elements of world music and sound system culture, they mix ancestral rhythms with modern dance music forms such as hip hop, breaks and drum n bass. The result is a high energy psychedelic global bass sound that will rock your socks off!
OOOD (aka Out Of Our Depth) will be a familiar name to both those with long memories and relative newcomers to psychedelic trance. Formed in 1994, they’ve been around for as long as there has been psytrance, producing some of Goa Trance’s classic tracks on labels like Flying Rhino, Phantasm, Matsuri and later Vertigo. Their recent signing to the mighty Iboga Records has seen highly acclaimed releases that have put Oood firmly back on top causing a wave of excitement. Let’s get out of our depth!

HOW TO GET THERE: Studio 9294 is a 2 minute walk from Hackney Wick overground station and a 25 minute walk from Stratford underground station where you will find DLR, Elizabeth, Jubilee and Central lines, the latter two operate an overnight service at weekends. The following bus services stop in the local area: 26, 30, 276, 339, 488, N26 and W15.
